Medical Marijuana Growing

The debate over the use of medical marijuana in the United States is long over. In fact, marijuana can now be purchased legally in 23 US states. It is also legal for marijuana to be used for recreational purposes in the states of Washington and Colorado. This suggests that the inherent medicinal value of cannabis use far outweighs the negative effects that accompany its use. However, not everyone is convinced that medical marijuana is a good thing. Currently there are other countries such as Australia that are debating the legalization of marijuana use. Here are some of their arguments.

Beginner’s Guide to Growing Marijuana

Pro. As early as 2737 BC, cannabis was used to treat gout, malaria and rheumatism in China. Cannabis use spread throughout Asia as far as India where it was used to relieve pain and stress. The medical use of marijuana immediately received the attention of US and European countries.

Marijuana for medical use can be taken in several forms such as smoking, yawning and ingesting. There are 60 active ingredients called cannabinoids found in marijuana that are attributed to its medicinal abilities. Our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids which are responsible for modulating the amount of pain our bodies feel. The main cannabinoid found in marijuana is THC which stands for tetrahydrocannabinol. This THC triggers the CB1 receptors found in the brain, nervous system, and other major organs of our body. When CB1 receptors are activated, they release hormones that will quell stress and pain caused by damaged nerve tissue or cells. Studies also reveal that medical marijuana reduces muscle spasms and other symptoms associated with muscle stiffness.

Another medicinal use of marijuana is to stimulate the appetite of patients who suffer from a suppressed appetite due to their medical condition or medication. Botanical products with CBD, like Medical marijuana, is prescribed to patients undergoing chemotherapy as this treatment most often reduces the patient’s appetite.

The Stages of Cannabis Growth

In the US, cannabis as a treatment is only ‘recommended’ by doctors because US federal law still prohibits ‘prescribing’ marijuana. However, a person who wants to purchase medical marijuana must have a diagnosis from a doctor who will recommend the use of medical marijuana as a treatment for any illness they have.

Marijuana for medical use has been shown to be effective. However, like any product, substance abuse can be detrimental to a person’s health. The use of medical marijuana in other countries will depend on a country’s belief system. However, the use of medical marijuana must be strictly regulated.
